Agitation GlossaryNumber of Reynolds

Number of Reynolds

The Reynolds number relates to the flow generated in the tank. It expresses the ratio of inertial forces to viscosity forces.

A low Reynolds number indicates that the viscosity forces are predominant: flow is called "laminar".

A high Reynolds number indicates that inertial forces dominate the movement: flow is “turbulent” or “inertial”.
